New to me car came equipped with a Fumoto valve. Neat!
Now I’m worried about knocking the dang thing off so I’m contemplating a skid plate.
New to me car: 2010 Impreza Outback Sport.

How come everyone else gets a fun n ew car?

Even my wife got in on this, with her Mini. I’ve driven it about 3 times since then. But she let me know it needs an oil change, it’ll need a test drive after that.

I need this on my car, the plug goes to the side so it won’t stick down. To the interwebz!

It’s not all good news . One had to die to make space.
Still torn up about letting that one go, but rust did it in. Firewall and floor were gone.

Is it not under the plastic cover already? Our Forester it is.

I hate how they did those Impreza’s two tone color schemes. It seems super tacky.

I’m currently fighting some expensive brake problems in my blue W123

What’s the issue?

There either isn’t one or it’s missing. There is one further towards the front but it ends before the exhaust.

I’m a fan. Think it would look nicer if it went with some fender flares tho.

Good news is being a Subaru there’s probably several options for bolt on or minimal fabrication skid plates available. My brother in law was able to find a bolt on one for his Mk4 Jetta because of that cars limits rally following, but this is like the go to car for grassroots rally.

I find the issue is how they have the grey transfer across the fenders and body. The rear quarters are particularly big offenders.

Practicality won that battle.

Practicality wins, usually.
Except for many modern crossovers.

Ours is pretty tucked up, it’s at an angle too so the fumoto keeps it from dripping everywhere.. do you know the coffee cup trick?
Empty paper coffee cup held up and unscrew the old filter.. filter and oil go in the cup. If you do it right it’s dripless.

Take it you don’t have one of the Subarus with the Ring of Fire then?

I faced that gauntlet for the first time today.

Oy. That looks potentially quite painful. Ring of fire indeed!

It wigs me out. At first glance it always looks to me like someone crashed the hell out of it then threw junkyard panels on it.

Looks like a good way to slice your wrist open too. Thick gloves are a must, if you can get in there.

Consensus from what I’ve seen is that filter wrench on an extension is the way to go.

Originally I was going to replace pads and rotors, then once I had the wheels off I realized that The pads were dragging, either because of ruined rubber brake lines or seized caliper pistons, so now I need front calipers and all 4 rubber brake lines as well, also the rotors I ordered are too thick for the calipers for some reason so I have to re order and wait for the new ones. While I have everything apart I might as well do the wheel bearings as well. Then I discovered that the o ring between my brake booster and master cylinder is leaking so that will need to be replaced too.

I remember the fronts being confusing when I ordered the parts . Definitely do the bearings at the same time though since you’re taking them off anyway.
